being the newbie in town, i´ve found every detail of my life holds intrigue to someone. a couple of weeks ago, some kids were just pestering me about all the things that i bought and how much everything costed, where i got it, was it new...etc. i didn´t see the point in telling them the details of the prices and color options and nonsense so i figured i make up a more interesting story about the new objects i´d purchased from town. my mind created simultaneously as my mouth told the shenanigans... i told them that at night, little people (enanitos) come to sleep at night on my new otavalo grass rug. they are really shy so no one really sees them but they dedicate the day to planting trees and taking care of the jungle since sometimes we don´t think about replanting trees. i told them that they have green hair too ( at this point i had the image of a troll doll that we all had in 4th grade) just to make the story have a little more flair...the kids had large eyes at the end of the story and scurried away like little squirrels to their houses.
i was pretty impressed at how i creatively diverted the kids´bludgeoning of questions...until the next day when concerned parents showed up asking about the dwarfs that enter my house and live in ´el monte´. i guess there´s a running legend that little peope live in the monte and come into the town to have mal relaciones with the men and women...carambas! so, as much as i want to continue the story, i think it will have to be our little secret.
