the times i´m aware of my surroundings and not simply moving through them are the most rewarding. i have been in ecuador over a year and my perspective has certainly changed from first glance- i see my fellow community members as perhaps a ladybug sees a plant-with an intimate appreciation of the support and diversity it naturally provides.

also, knowing people by name has proven the power to make a smile erupt and deter timidity at least for a second, and it´s those seconds i´ve found add up.

the months are passing quickly and sometimes i look forward to the new picture on the calendar and newness in general, yet i yearn to have the peace of being in the moments and being able to enjoy them. i remember having a conversation with a friend about a year ago and telling her (in reference to my spiritual walk) that i feel jaded most of the time, but i dwell i those moments of clarity. i too feel this way about my role in my community and so here i am- awaiting and creating the moments of clarity and intending to enjoy all the others in between.
blessings to you.
