Project Yuturi

The recycling paper project finally has a name: Project Yuturi. Yuturi is kichwa for the name of an ant who dwells in a tree and is known for it´s fierce effects when it attacks.

The high school kids have been collecting paper from their classrooms as well as from the elementary school. They dump it all out and then sort the colors into separate bags.

They make popcorn on Wednesday´s to pay rent for the house that we´re using to store the paper.

They attended a workshop to learn how to make recycled paper on a small scale.

The host is showing the youth a variety of products that they can make.

Here we are (minus 3), Project Yuturi on a field trip-
Profesora Cristina, René, Tania, Cyntia, Libeya (the host), me, Crispin, Alex and Luisa

Until we acquire more funds to buy a commercial sized blender and other materials, we´re continuing to meet; collecting paper, making popcorn, making small quantities of paper and playing cards.
