Women´s Group Kallarik Warmikuna

Kallarik Warmikuna is kichwa for Progressive Women. We formed a small group of women in 2009 with the focus of making jewelry.
They´ve been up and down with meeting consistently until lately but they´re always productive and giggly when they do. They are most interested with doing artesenia, as in jewelry with local fibers and seeds but we branch out every so often...

Family Planning bead bracelets

Figuring out the new drill

Cake Baking

Constructing a lock box

Sewing machine maintenance and repair class

I look forward to every meeting with the women. They´ll usually show up to my house on Thursday afternoon with the youngest kids in tow. We drink kool-aid and sit around my tables working on whatever the interest of the day is. They´ve got lives congested with house chores and it´s nice to see them a bit more free. They always leave me in awe of their energy to raise 6+ kids, manage the gardens and keep their house in order. Makes my life seem like a breeze.
